Remote Data Engineer

Description:

• Messari is seeking a Data Engineer to join their on-chain data team in a remote capacity within the US.
• This role involves close collaboration with research, product, and engineering teams to enhance data modeling efforts and maximize business impact.
• Responsibilities include delivering end-to-end data products, designing processes to improve operational efficiency, and mentoring junior data analysts.
• The Data Engineer will own the data pipeline from end-to-end, which includes data modeling, data visualization, and ensuring data quality.
• The role requires designing and building data models for blockchain data to transform raw data into high-level metrics.
• The position emphasizes the use of modern data tools and best practices to maintain data quality and consistency.
• The Data Engineer will foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across various business functions and provide technical mentorship to junior team members.
• Familiarity with crypto and prior experience with blockchain data is considered a significant advantage.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 4+ years of experience in data modeling, schema design, and data tools/operations.
• Strong expertise in SQL and dbt is required, along with proficiency in Python.
• Experience working in a cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks is necessary.
• Candidates should have experience with data infrastructure/operations tools like Docker, CI/CD, and AWS.
• A passion for cryptocurrencies and a good understanding of blockchains and/or decentralized finance (DeFi) is a plus.
• Data science experience, including forecasting, A/B testing, simulation, and predictive modeling, is also a nice-to-have.
