Description:
GoodParty.org is seeking a Data Engineer with JavaScript or Python experience and a background in building ETL pipelines.
The position is remote and available to candidates based in the United States.
The Data Engineer will build systems that collect, manage, and convert raw data into usable information for candidates running for office.
Responsibilities include implementing methods to improve data reliability, security, and quality, as well as combining raw information from different sources into consistent formats.
The role involves developing and testing architectures for data extraction and transformation, creating unique data infrastructure, and running tests using big data technologies.
Collaboration with a lean, agile team using CI/CD and Kanban methodologies is essential.
The Data Engineer will work directly with Product, Design, and QA teams and partner closely with the Data Analytics Lead.
The position reports to the CTO and is the first Data Engineer hire in a team of senior developers.
Requirements:
Candidates must have strong scripting skills in Python and be proficient in data exploration using SQL.
Experience in data modeling, building data warehouses, and creating ETL pipelines that process millions of records is required.
A minimum of 8 years of relevant full-time work experience is preferred, ideally in a fast-paced startup environment.
Familiarity with BigQuery or an equivalent big data tool is necessary.
Interest in using AI, LLMs, and automation of tasks through AI is important, along with previous work or personal projects in this area.
Candidates should be able to work independently and collaboratively to solve problems in real-time.
Bonus qualifications include coding in JavaScript and experience in politics, political activism, or democracy reform.
