The Director Software Engineer will join the BASE Focus Area team in Portugal, responsible for building a scalable platform to support millions of active users, clients, and partners.
The role involves overseeing engineering teams, driving technical and business strategy, optimizing engineering processes, and fostering a high-performance culture.
Key responsibilities include mentoring teams, influencing engineering and product roadmaps, ensuring high availability of critical systems, and creating a supportive work environment focused on wellbeing.
Requirements:
Candidates must have experience managing managers and guiding multiple software engineering teams across different locations.
Proficiency in architecting large-scale multi-tier web applications and designing complex modern web applications is required.
Familiarity with cloud-based solutions like AWS/GCP and understanding of scalable systems is essential.
Excellent mentoring skills for engineering leads and teams, with a focus on technical growth and operational excellence.
Strong communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders and align cross-functional teams.
Experience with SQL/NoSQL technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and DynamoDB is necessary.
Candidates should have a deep understanding of systems troubleshooting and the ability to resolve critical problems efficiently.
Fluency in English is required for articulating ideas clearly in group settings.
