Description:
The Frontend Engineer will be part of the Source Code FE team at GitLab, focusing on GitLab's suite of tools around Source Code Management.
Responsibilities include developing features and improvements to the GitLab product in a secure, well-tested, and performant manner.
The engineer will collaborate with Product Management, Backend, UX, and other stakeholders to iterate on new features within the GitLab product.
Crafting code that meets internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale web environment is essential.
The role involves consistently shipping small features and improvements, collaborating with the team on larger projects, and improving the overall experience of the product.
Identifying areas of improvement in the code base, contributing to making it better, and fixing prioritized issues from the issue tracker are key responsibilities.
The engineer will also learn, collaborate, and teach other Frontend Engineers, as well as follow the workflow process alongside the rest of the Frontend Engineers and the GitLab community.
Requirements:
Professional experience with VueJS or another modern JavaScript web framework (React, Angular, Ember, etc).
Experience with writing automated tests using tools like Jest, Karma, Jasmine, Mocha, AVA, or tape.
Proficiency in using Git in a professional/workplace environment.
Solid understanding of core web and browser concepts, semantic HTML, CSS, and core JavaScript concepts.
Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, for success in a remote work environment.
Experience with performance and optimization problems, agile software development processes, and working closely with other parts of the organization.
Positive and solution-oriented mindset, effective communication skills, and ability to work in a fully remote organization.
Familiarity with GitLab and the code review process.
