Description:

  • The Frontend Engineer will be part of the Source Code FE team at GitLab, focusing on GitLab's suite of tools around Source Code Management.
  • Responsibilities include developing features and improvements to the GitLab product in a secure, well-tested, and performant manner.
  • The engineer will collaborate with Product Management, Backend, UX, and other stakeholders to iterate on new features within the GitLab product.
  • Crafting code that meets internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale web environment is essential.
  • The role involves consistently shipping small features and improvements, collaborating with the team on larger projects, and improving the overall experience of the product.
  • Identifying areas of improvement in the code base, contributing to making it better, and fixing prioritized issues from the issue tracker are key responsibilities.
  • The engineer will also learn, collaborate, and teach other Frontend Engineers, as well as follow the workflow process alongside the rest of the Frontend Engineers and the GitLab community.

Requirements:

  • Professional experience with VueJS or another modern JavaScript web framework (React, Angular, Ember, etc).
  • Experience with writing automated tests using tools like Jest, Karma, Jasmine, Mocha, AVA, or tape.
  • Proficiency in using Git in a professional/workplace environment.
  • Solid understanding of core web and browser concepts, semantic HTML, CSS, and core JavaScript concepts.
  • Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, for success in a remote work environment.
  • Experience with performance and optimization problems, agile software development processes, and working closely with other parts of the organization.
  • Positive and solution-oriented mindset, effective communication skills, and ability to work in a fully remote organization.
  • Familiarity with GitLab and the code review process.
