Description:

  • Scribd is seeking a Frontend Software Engineer to join the Discovery Engineering Team, responsible for creating customer-facing web experiences related to search, recommendations, and generative AI features.
  • The role involves collaborating with other engineering teams, designers, and product managers to deliver exceptional user experiences.
  • The position requires full-cycle software development, including contributing to code strategy, architecture, implementation, and system operation.
  • Key responsibilities include advising on technical design, code review, participation in interviews, and mentoring less experienced engineers.
  • Required skills include 2+ years of frontend experience, proficiency in React, knowledge of modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks, API understanding, and strong communication skills.
  • Nice-to-have skills include familiarity with Ruby on Rails, backend technologies like MySQL and AWS, experience with user interface interactions, and knowledge of Next.js or GraphQL.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of full-time experience working on frontend systems, especially with React.
  • Understanding of at least one modern JavaScript/TypeScript framework (React).
  • Knowledge of APIs to comfortably participate in API design discussions with backend engineers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration.
  • Collaborative spirit to work closely with product, design, and backend engineers.
