Description:
Scribd is seeking a Frontend Software Engineer II to join the Discovery Engineering Team, responsible for customer-facing web experiences related to search, recommendations, and generative AI features.
The role involves collaborating with other engineering teams, designers, and product managers to drive success through excellent communication skills.
The position primarily focuses on frontend development but requires knowledge of the full tech stack to work with backend engineers effectively.
Responsibilities include full-cycle software development, contributing to code strategy, architecture, implementation, and system operation.
Key skills required include 3-5 years of frontend experience, proficiency in React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks, understanding of Ruby on Rails, API knowledge, and strong communication skills.
Nice-to-have skills include experience with user interface interactions, Next.js, GraphQL, design system/component UI library creation, and backend technologies like MySQL, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, and AWS.
Requirements:
3-5 years of experience working on frontend systems, especially with React.
Strong understanding of modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks, particularly React.
Proficiency in Ruby on Rails or a similar application framework.
Knowledge of APIs to engage in API design discussions with backend teammates.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration.
Collaborative spirit to work closely with product, design, and backend engineers.
