Description:
The Intermediate Backend Engineer will be responsible for building and iterating on the RBAC (role-based access control) system at GitLab.
The primary focus will be on enhancing the authorization system to provide customers with full control over member access, including implementing custom roles with specific privileges and permissions.
The role involves making architecture decisions to ensure scalability and performance of the product, influencing conventions, design patterns, and development guidelines.
There will be opportunities to work on security-focused features with the Anti-abuse team, leveraging risk models, identity verification, and pipeline analysis.
Collaboration with team members in the refinement process, milestone planning with product counterparts, and participation in cross-team collaboration when needed are key responsibilities.
Requirements:
Significant professional experience with Ruby on Rails is required.
Strong experience with relational databases, preferably Postgres.
Experience with RBAC, ABAC, OAuth, SAML, SCIM, and LDAP is necessary for this role.
