Description:

  • GitLab is seeking an Intermediate Backend Engineer for their Compliance group, which focuses on maturing enterprise-grade Compliance features that impact GitLab's enterprise sales success.
  • The role involves providing visibility into an organization's compliance posture within GitLab and offering tools to identify non-compliant activities.
  • The Compliance group is focused on Compliance Management and Audit Events, with a goal to expand feature maturity and build a robust architecture.
  • Responsibilities include writing high-quality, efficient, and maintainable code, contributing to the overall direction of the Compliance group, and advocating for product quality, security, and performance.
  • The engineer will collaborate with senior engineers on architectural plans, participate in agile development practices, and contribute to the development process through feedback and questions.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have strong experience in building, deploying, and maintaining Ruby on Rails applications, with a deep understanding of the Rails ecosystem.
  • A strong background in developing secure applications and knowledge of modern security threats is required.
  • Proficiency in writing efficient SQL queries, preferably with PostgreSQL, is necessary for managing and manipulating data.
  • The ability to self-manage and organize in an asynchronous and collaborative work environment is essential.
  • Candidates should demonstrate clear communication skills regarding complex technical problems and propose iterative solutions.
  • Familiarity with various stages of software development and Agile methodologies is a plus.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team with product managers, designers, and other engineers is required.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and openness to feedback is essential for individual and team development.
