Description:

  • As an Intermediate Backend Engineer at GitLab, you will be responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and developing new features in the areas of Secrets Management and Secure Artifacts within the Pipeline Security group.
  • You will collaborate with other Engineers and stakeholders to design systems, follow architectural design workflows, and ensure high-quality standards in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
  • Your role will involve advocating for product quality, security, and performance improvements, as well as crafting code that meets internal standards for style and maintainability in a high-scale web environment.
  • Additionally, you will identify and propose solutions for team efficiency impediments, work on small features and larger projects, and take ownership of stability and availability in what you build.

Requirements:

  • Professional experience with Ruby on Rails is required.
  • Familiarity with designing secure backend solutions using encryption for managing secrets and tokens is necessary. Experience with solutions like HashiCorp Vault is a bonus.
  • Experience working with a platform or complex application, especially at a large scale, is preferred.
  • Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, is essential for success in a remote and asynchronous work environment.
  • Previous experience in highly agile, iterative software development processes is required.
  • Self-motivation, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work closely with different parts of the organization are important.
