Description:
As an Intermediate Backend Engineer in Threat Insights at GitLab, you will be responsible for developing features and improvements to the GitLab product in a secure, well-tested, and performant manner.
You will collaborate with Product Management and other stakeholders within Engineering to maintain a high standard of quality.
Your main focus will be advancing the Threat Insights performance and optimization offering, working with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers to solve problems across the Threat Insights domain.
You will advocate for improvements to product quality, security, and performance, ensuring code meets internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices in a high-scale web environment.
Additionally, you will participate in code reviews, recognize and propose solutions for technical debt, and ship features and improvements with minimal guidance.
You will also be part of on-call rotations to assist in troubleshooting product operations, security operations, and urgent engineering issues.
Requirements:
Significant professional experience with Ruby on Rails is required for this role.
Strong experience with relational databases, preferably Postgres, is necessary.
Demonstrated capacity to communicate clearly and concisely about complex technical, architectural, and organizational problems and propose thorough iterative solutions is essential.
Experience with performance and optimization problems, as well as the ability to diagnose and prevent these issues, is a must.
Comfort working in a highly agile and intensely iterative software development process is required.
Effective communication skills, the ability to regularly achieve consensus with peers, and provide clear and consistent status updates are necessary.
Experience owning a project from concept to production, including proposal, discussion, and execution, is important.
Being self-motivated, self-managing, and having strong organizational skills are key requirements for this position.
