Description:
GitLab is seeking an Intermediate Backend Engineer for their MLOps team, focusing on machine learning operations and large language model operations.
The role involves enabling GitLab customers to build and integrate their data science workloads directly within the platform.
Key responsibilities include moving Experimental and Beta MLOps features to General Availability, developing CI/CD pipelines for ML model deployment, and collaborating with data scientists to productionize ML models.
The engineer will design monitoring systems for ML model performance and ensure the scalability and reliability of ML systems in production.
The position requires collaboration with Product Management and other engineering stakeholders to maintain high-quality standards in a fast-paced environment.
The team is remote-first, allowing for global collaboration while providing a significant voice in the direction of MLOps at GitLab.
Success in this role is measured by delivering assigned work, contributing to team goals, and pushing the boundaries of MLOps and LLMOps.
Requirements:
Candidates must have professional experience with Ruby on Rails and familiarity with MLOps practices and tools such as MLflow or Kubeflow.
A solid understanding of machine learning concepts and workflows is essential.
Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) technologies is required.
Experience with Python ML libraries like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch is a plus.
Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, is necessary for success in a remote work environment.
Candidates should demonstrate the ability to communicate complex technical problems and propose solutions effectively.
Experience in performance optimization and a comfort with agile software development processes are important.
Candidates should be self-motivated, organized, and able to work closely with other parts of the organization.
A history of owning projects from concept to production is preferred.
