Description:

  • The Intermediate Security Engineer at GitLab will be responsible for engineering security improvements to the GitLab product.
  • They will build and maintain tools to detect and respond to emerging threats efficiently and at scale.
  • The role involves responding to security incidents, driving them to resolution, and deploying preventative security measures for the organization and GitLab.com.
  • Successful Security Engineers at this level thrive in high-pressure environments, remain calm, follow prepared runbooks, and think critically.
  • The position offers the opportunity to learn how to think like an attacker and defender, as well as proactive and preventative security measures to keep GitLab and its users' data safe in a constantly evolving threat landscape.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Ruby or Python development skills with a strong interest in security.
  • Aptitude for incident response processes and a willingness to learn how to lead incidents independently.
  • Passion for technical documentation and proficiency with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and/or AWS.
  • Interest in handling trust and safety incidents such as platform abuse, cryptomining, and platform spam.
  • Desire to engage in proactive hunting based on threat intelligence and conduct forensic analysis of infected hosts, with a focus on cloud forensics.
  • Interest in SIEM/security logging tools like Splunk or Devo.
