Remote Junior Ruby Developer - Work From Home

Description:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend systems using Ruby, with a strong emphasis on the language's core features and capabilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to deliver high-quality software.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code, adhering to TDD practices.
• Optimise and maintain PostgreSQL databases to ensure high performance and scalability.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems.
• Participate in code reviews.

Requirements:

• Proficiency in Ruby: Extensive experience with the Ruby language itself, including metaprogramming, performance tuning, and best practices.
• PostgreSQL Expertise: Strong understanding of relational database design, optimisation, and SQL query writing.
• Test-Driven Development (TDD): Proven experience writing unit, integration, and system tests using tools like RSpec or Minitest.
• Agile Methodologies: Experience working in agile teams, using practices like pair programming, sprints, and continuous delivery.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
• Experience with Ruby frameworks like Rails, Padrino or Sinatra (though the focus is on core Ruby).
• Familiarity with containerisation tools such as Docker.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
