Description:

  • The Junior Ruby Developer will design, develop, and maintain backend systems using Ruby, focusing on the language's core features and capabilities.
  • This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to deliver high-quality software.
  • The developer is expected to write clean, efficient, and well-documented code while adhering to Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices.
  • Responsibilities include optimizing and maintaining PostgreSQL databases to ensure high performance and scalability.
  • The developer will troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems.
  • Participation in code reviews is also a key part of the role.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Ruby is required, with extensive experience in the language, including metaprogramming, performance tuning, and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of PostgreSQL is necessary, including relational database design, optimization, and SQL query writing.
  • Proven experience in Test-Driven Development (TDD) is essential, with the ability to write unit, integration, and system tests using tools like RSpec or Minitest.
  • Experience working in Agile methodologies is required, including practices like pair programming, sprints, and continuous delivery.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are a must.
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git is necessary.
  • Experience with Ruby frameworks such as Rails, Padrino, or Sinatra is preferred, although the focus is on core Ruby.
  • Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines is required.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus.
