Description:

  • Octopus by RTG is seeking a Laravel Backend Engineer to work on exciting AI projects in Egypt.
  • The company is part of the Robusta Technology Group (RTG), a leading tech consultancy with a decade of experience and over 300 successful projects across Europe, the Middle East, and North America.
  • Octopus specializes in assembling remote global tech teams that align with the culture and practices of specific brands.
  • The role involves collaborating with the development team to design, develop, test, and deploy new features and functionalities.
  • Responsibilities include taking ownership of solution design, evaluating and enforcing software development best practices, and providing technical insights for system integration.
  • The engineer will also mentor less-senior developers, participate in Agile/Scrum processes, and maintain technical documentation.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in backend development.
  • Proficiency in the PHP Laravel Framework is essential, along with experience in designing, developing, and testing software.
  • Experience in handling high availability, concurrency, and low latency solutions using PHP Laravel is necessary.
  • Strong knowledge of MySQL and experience in optimizing SQL query performance is required.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google APIs is a plus.
  • Experience with Continuous Delivery (CD) lifecycle, deployment, and support is also a plus.
  • Candidates should have expertise in version control, CI/CD, and configuration management tools.
  • The ability to reason about performance, security, and interactions in complex distributed systems is important.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required for collaboration with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong debugging skills for both new and existing software are necessary.
  • Experience working with remote/distributed teams and projects is preferred.
