Remote Lead Security/Operations Engineer

Description:

• Help use technology to make a significant impact in the energy sector by joining Kraken, a company focused on creating a smart, sustainable energy system.
• The role involves leading a team of 4-6 Security Engineers or SecOps Engineers to maintain and improve security across Kraken Technologies and the wider Octopus Energy Group.
• Responsibilities include team leadership, people management, and technical delivery.
• Team leadership involves owning a functional team within the Cyber Security Team, managing team priorities, collaborating with other teams, and promoting a positive team environment.
• People management includes line-managing Security or SecOps Engineers, setting performance expectations, and providing constructive feedback.
• Technical delivery encompasses delivering technical improvements, supporting team delivery, implementing security processes, and staying updated on emerging security threats and technologies.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in a leadership role within Security Engineering or Security Operations is required.
• A strong background in Security Engineering or Security Operations with a deep understanding of security best practices and standards is essential.
• Excellent asynchronous communication skills are necessary.
• Experience in mentoring and coaching a team to perform at a high level of quality is required.
• Familiarity with incident management is important.
• Previous experience in engineering teams focused on maintaining and improving security of Cloud Service Providers and applications or in security operations teams is needed.
• Knowledge of security logging, monitoring, alerting, and security tooling in line with best practices is required.
