As a Lead Software Engineer, you will report to an Engineering Manager and lead technical initiatives from inception to user delivery.
You will drive continuous improvement and evaluate the return on investment for product development decisions.
The role involves hands-on development and technical leadership, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance the LawnStarter platform.
Responsibilities include architecting solutions, writing quality code, leading engineers by example, and solving technical challenges.
You will work with various technologies including JavaScript, PHP, Terraform, and other backend/operations languages.
You will lead the development of the LawnStarter platform, ensuring the use of best development techniques and architectural patterns.
You will own the resolution of complex problems in systems and integrations, and find opportunities to share knowledge across teams.
The role includes delegating tasks to teammates and ensuring their success, identifying technical debt opportunities, and prioritizing these activities with management.
You will ensure thorough automated testing and communicate patterns and solutions through documentation and presentations.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate is an experienced full-stack engineer with server- and client-side web software experience.
Familiarity with cloud development, Test Driven Development (TDD), RESTful APIs, React, XSS attacks, and MVC web frameworks is required.
A solid understanding of fundamental computer science concepts is necessary, including pointers, Big O notation, composition vs. inheritance, and data structures.
A firm grasp of SQL and databases, including CRUD operations and understanding of indexes and joins, is essential.
Interest in technical SEO best practices and familiarity with content optimization and performance enhancements is a plus.
Bonus points for interest in exploring AI solutions to optimize user behaviors.
Experience with PHP (Laravel) and JavaScript (React, React Native, Vue) is preferred, but a background in any mainstream object-oriented language is acceptable.
