Description:
Aker Systems is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to work remotely in the UK.
The role requires a UK Government Security Check (SC) clearance, which the company will support applicants in obtaining if they have lived and worked in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.
The successful candidate will lead the development of backend services for a government client using the latest commercial and open-source technologies.
Responsibilities include designing, developing, documenting, and deploying backend services with a focus on high availability, low latency, and scalability.
The engineer will actively participate in the teamβs elaboration and estimation of user stories and build frequent, small releases to maintain team momentum.
Collaboration with other engineers in cross-functional feature teams is essential, ensuring coverage for team members.
The role also involves building, optimizing, and operating Continuous Deployment pipelines and maintaining operational responsibility for the services owned by the team.
Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree or greater in Computer Science or a related field is required, or an equivalent of at least 5 years of working experience in a developer capacity.
Proficiency in JAVA programming, including experience with Spring Boot, is essential.
Candidates must be fluent in writing JAVA code and have experience with Kafka or a similar platform.
Experience with Scala and Spark, as well as integrating with backing services such as PostgreSQL, Redis, or S3, is required.
Good engineering practices, including continuous delivery, clean code, documentation, defensive programming, automated testing, and code reviews, are necessary.
Experience working in Agile development and/or DevOps teams is expected.
Familiarity with GitHub/GitLab for source control and Test Driven Development with appropriate tools and frameworks is required.
Experience in Big Data technologies and Public Cloud services, such as AWS, is also necessary.
