Description:
The Machine Learning Engineer will be part of the Custom Models team at GitLab, responsible for deploying and customizing Generative AI models within the GitLab product and beyond.
They will collaborate with various teams to assess, fine-tune, evaluate, store, deploy, and protect models using different hosting techniques.
The role involves developing improvements to models for generating new content securely and efficiently.
The engineer will work with complex data for feature development using machine learning models.
They will advocate for product quality, security, and performance enhancements.
Responsibilities include crafting code that meets internal standards for a high-scale machine-learning environment and participating in on-call rotations for troubleshooting.
Requirements:
A Master’s degree with 2+ years of experience in ML or a PhD with a focus on Machine Learning/Data Science is required.
Professional experience with Python is necessary.
Experience in performance optimization, agile software development, and long-term integration with organizations is essential.
Strong communication skills, positive mindset, and ability to work in a fully remote setup are required.
Experience with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow is preferred.
Familiarity with prompt engineering, RAG, LLM fine-tuning, and MLOps infrastructure is a plus.
