Description:

  • Join Axon and be a part of a mission to Protect Life by addressing critical safety and justice issues through devices and cloud software.
  • As a Machine Learning Engineer II, you will architect and implement platforms for Axon scientists to enhance public safety.
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to enable new AI capabilities for Axon products such as Fleet, Axon Body, and Axon Air.
  • Support the training, evaluation, testing, and deployment of machine learning models across various applications including computer vision, speech recognition, and natural language understanding.
  • Develop and manage scalable infrastructure for training and improving Automatic Speech Recognition, Computer Vision, and Natural Language Understanding models.
  • Deliver strategic solutions to enhance the fairness, security, and innovation of Axon models.
  • Influence the AI community by creating state-of-the-art solutions for responsible AI.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical field is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience with a proven track record in architecting and maintaining large-scale distributed platforms for AI.
  • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, Keras, and PyTorch is essential.
  • Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with at least one cloud environment (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Oracle, or Google Cloud) is required.
  • Excellent problem-solving and software design skills are necessary.
  • A solid understanding of system architecture is important.
  • Comfort in communicating and collaborating with scientists, engineers, and ML/product managers is required.
  • Preferred qualifications include a Master’s Degree or PhD in a relevant technical field and hands-on experience in solving Computer Vision or Speech Recognition problems in a business context.
  • Familiarity with responsible AI practices, de-biasing, encryption, and de-identifying techniques is preferred.
