Description:
The team focuses on improving the search system’s quality by increasing the recall and relevancy of the retrieved results.
The Machine Learning Engineer will address practical challenges in building and optimizing models that improve search quality.
Responsibilities include fine-tuning large language models, integrating advanced vector search techniques, and using real-time relevance signals to align results with user intent.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in machine learning and information retrieval, with experience delivering scalable, production-ready solutions.
The role involves collaboration across the stack, from model development to deployment, to drive measurable improvements in search performance and user satisfaction.
Key challenges include building and deploying robust ML systems for search, tuning large language models for item relevance, designing metrics for evaluating search results, and developing explanation tools for stakeholders.
The engineer will own the full development lifecycle, ensuring systems remain stable, performant, and scalable.
Requirements:
Proficiency in NLP at a high level, with practical experience in modern architectures is required.
Strong skills in Python, at least one ML/DL framework (preferably torch), and proficiency with SQL and big data stacks like Spark, Presto/Athena, and Hive are necessary.
Experience in delivering production ML systems and conducting A/B tests to validate their value is essential.
Familiarity with data pipeline orchestration tools (such as Airflow) to manage and automate ML workflows is required.
Excellent communication skills to translate intuition into data-driven hypotheses that lead to engineering solutions with significant business value are necessary.
A passion for helping others grow and succeed as developers, along with a data-driven mindset and strong strategic planning skills, is important.
Continuous learning and tracking of recent advancements in AI and ML is expected.
