The Mid-level Backend Software Engineer will join the Data Platform team in Brazil, responsible for building and maintaining system components that support data engineers and analysts.
The team utilizes AWS cloud infrastructure and a mix of open-source and in-house software to create self-service, cost-effective, and secure data solutions.
Team members have diverse technical backgrounds, including software engineering, systems administration, cloud infrastructure, data analysis, and data governance.

Example projects include tooling around the query engine to reduce costs and improve performance, a metastore catalog manager tool, an access control system, and solutions for optimizing query performance.
Requirements:
A BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience is required.
Candidates must have experience using Python, Java, or a similar programming language, with a preference for Python and Java.
Solid SQL skills and experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, are mandatory.
Familiarity with messaging systems such as Kafka, Pulsar, or RabbitMQ is required.
Experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform, Pulumi, or Crossplane is necessary.
A strong understanding of distributed systems and data-intensive applications is essential.
Candidates should have knowledge of analytical data warehouses and a genuine interest in big data applications and technology trends.
Prior experience in backend software engineering and SQL databases is mandatory.
