Remote Principal Data Scientist, Consumer Experience

• Gopuff is seeking a Principal Data Scientist for the Consumer Experience team to solve impactful problems using data science.
• The role involves building solutions that change how people purchase daily goods, with a focus on enhancing the consumer experience through search and recommendations.
• The Data Scientist will work on high-impact projects, taking ownership from prototype to productionalization, and will refine existing systems in retrieval, ranking, and query understanding.
• Responsibilities include building and enhancing machine learning, statistical, and causal models for product search, ranking, and recommendation.
• The position requires collaboration with product and engineering managers to develop and deploy solutions, as well as educating business and engineering partners on data science concepts.
• The Data Scientist will present work to leadership, identify gaps in existing data, create data product specifications, and work with engineering teams to implement enhanced data tracking.
• The role also involves partnering with analytics team members to share insights and best practices, committing to automation and productionalized solutions, and providing mentorship to less experienced data scientists.
• This is a remote position.

Requirements:

• A Master's or PhD in statistics, mathematics, analytics, computer science, or another quantitative field, along with 3+ years of experience as a data scientist in eCommerce or Logistics, or 8+ years of experience in the same fields.
• Hands-on experience in building ranking and recommendation models in production environments is required.
• Experience in applying descriptive statistics, machine learning, predictive modeling, and visualization techniques to solve challenging business problems is necessary.
• Expert knowledge in statistical and machine learning techniques, data science libraries in a programming or scripting language, model deployment, and machine learning workflows is essential.
• Proficiency in Python and related ML libraries and frameworks (e.g., PyTorch), SQL, and working with large datasets is required.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and model development and deployment technologies (e.g., Databricks) is necessary.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to both technical and business audiences are required.
