Description:

Aker Systems is seeking a Principal DevOps Engineer to lead the development and implementation of secure cloud environments for data and analytical platforms.
The role involves building automated deployments using configuration management technology and deploying new modules, upgrades, and fixes to test and production environments.
Responsibilities include building, testing, and deploying cloud-based infrastructure and applications using CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code.
The engineer will contribute to coding custom test automation frameworks and perform script maintenance and updates.
The position requires assisting with the setup and maintenance of environments for both manual and automated testing.
The engineer will also assist in production support by investigating and resolving incidents and performing ongoing routine application maintenance tasks.
Conducting gap analysis, identifying feasible alternative solutions, and assisting in the scope of modifications are also part of the role.
Participation in contingency planning, including reliable backup and restore procedures, is expected.
Documentation of functions and changes to new or modified modules and test activities/results is required.
The engineer will mentor and drive the team to deliver on customer requirements.

Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree or greater is required for this position.
At least 5 years of working experience in a DevOps capacity is necessary.
Candidates must have commercial experience in deploying and operating infrastructure and applications on AWS and other cloud environments.
Experience in developing and operating using open source and commercial software within a cloud-centric environment is required.
Proficiency in server build and administration for both Linux and Windows is necessary.
Familiarity with GitHub/GitLab for source control and performing code reviews is essential.
Knowledge of CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code technologies, such as Terraform and Ansible, is required.
Experience with Test Driven Development and appropriate tools and frameworks is necessary.
Candidates should have experience with cloud orchestration and containerization technologies, such as Kubernetes and Docker.
Knowledge of large-scale databases and distributed technologies, such as RDS, is required.
Familiarity with distributed event streaming technologies, such as Kafka, is necessary.
Candidates must be able to write and maintain automation scripts using Bash/Shell or Python scripting languages.
Experience in mentoring and leading teams and taking point on key decisions is essential.
