Description:

  • Ashby is seeking a curious and rigorous Principal Site Reliability & Cloud Engineer to enhance their platform as they scale.
  • The role involves building a reliable and secure infrastructure that supports the hiring process for talent teams.
  • The engineer will work on optimizing a homegrown recruiting DSL-to-SQL compiler, creating automated guardrails for data security, and helping developers ship features quickly.
  • Responsibilities include defining Service Level Objectives (SLOs), ensuring communication with external services supports retries, and implementing infrastructure for an event-driven architecture.
  • The position requires a balance between reliability and flexibility, with a focus on evaluating risks and making informed decisions.
  • The engineering culture emphasizes collaboration, ownership, and autonomy, allowing engineers to own projects from start to finish.

Requirements:

  • Candidates should have experience building infrastructure at a later stage than Ashby, dealing with large data sets, and automating processes from provisioning to monitoring.
  • A strong coding background is essential, as the role involves reviewing and submitting code changes regularly.
  • Applicants must be comfortable making independent decisions regarding infrastructure and project management without constant oversight.
  • Familiarity with SQL is necessary, as the role involves working with data models and reports.
  • The ideal candidate should be adaptable and willing to tackle a variety of challenges, including security enforcement and database optimization.
