Description:

Kpler is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their Engineering Chartering and Ops team in a remote capacity.
The company focuses on simplifying global trade information and providing insights to empower organizations in commodities, energy, and maritime sectors.
Key responsibilities include creating tools for freight analytics, developing systems for real-time congestion tracking, building solutions for fleet management, designing automated tools for voyage planning, and enhancing data access through APIs and SDKs.
The Senior Engineer will ensure product alignment with business goals, deliver high-quality code, maintain operational excellence, guide and mentor team members, and engage with the engineering community.

Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required.
Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience with Scala, Java, Node.js, or Python, and be proficient in building and consuming RESTful APIs.
Strong command of written and spoken English is necessary.
Experience with unit testing, clean code practices, SOLID principles, and software design patterns is required.
Proficiency in relational databases such as MSSQL or PostgreSQL and cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure is essential.
Familiarity with CI/CD processes, including GitLab pipelines and tools like SonarQube, is expected.
Proven experience with Git and Docker is required.
