The Senior Backend Engineer will work on a critical project within the DriveShield™ team to enhance driver safety and impact millions of lives.
The role involves building scalable and high-performance backend systems to support Jerry’s growth from 5M to 50M customers.
Responsibilities include focusing on non-functional requirements such as service availability, scalability, reliability, and security.
The engineer will oversee system design and architecture, develop and optimize stream processing applications using Kafka and Flink, and collaborate with data scientists for model deployment and integration.
The position emphasizes data processing, sanitization, validation, and data quality assurance.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 5+ years of software engineering experience.
Proficiency in at least one core programming language such as Java, Python, Go, or JavaScript is required.
Expertise in Kafka, Flink, and AWS is essential.
Experience in building stream processing applications is necessary.
Knowledge in system programming is expected.
The ideal candidate should be an excellent problem solver who can work independently without needing detailed instructions.
A track record of shipping products and features quickly is important.
Startup experience at a high-growth company is a plus.
Bonus points for previous knowledge of working with geospatial data.
