Description:

  • SmartRecruiters is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer II to join their engineering team focused on connecting great people with great jobs.
  • The role involves contributing to the full product life-cycle, including problem discovery, prototyping, design, implementation, and measuring adoption.
  • Responsibilities include building services with Java on top of Kubernetes/AWS infrastructure, developing developer-friendly RESTful APIs, and designing and connecting to the persistence layer using PostgreSQL and ElasticSearch.
  • The position requires collaboration with other teams within the organization.
  • The technology platform is a SaaS product hosted on AWS, composed of hundreds of independent services orchestrated by Kubernetes.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional experience is preferred for Senior Engineers II.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and operating distributed systems is required.
  • Proficiency in Java programming language (Java 21) and RESTful API design is essential.
  • Hands-on experience with TDD, clean code principles, and effective code reviews is necessary.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD processes, AWS, Kubernetes/Docker, and domain modeling skills are required.
  • Proven track record of coaching and mentoring other engineers is a plus.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills are essential for this role.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is a must.
