SmartRecruiters is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer II to join their engineering team focused on connecting great people with great jobs.
The role involves contributing to the full product life-cycle, including problem discovery, prototyping, design, implementation, and measuring adoption.
Responsibilities include building services with Java on top of Kubernetes/AWS infrastructure, developing developer-friendly RESTful APIs, and designing and connecting to the persistence layer using PostgreSQL and ElasticSearch.
The position requires collaboration with other teams within the organization.

Requirements:
5+ years of professional experience is preferred for Senior Engineers II.
Experience in designing, developing, and operating distributed systems is required.
Proficiency in Java programming language (Java 21) and RESTful API design is essential.
Hands-on experience with TDD, clean code principles, and effective code reviews is necessary.
Strong understanding of CI/CD processes, AWS, Kubernetes/Docker, and domain modeling skills are required.
Proven track record of coaching and mentoring other engineers is a plus.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills are essential for this role.
Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is a must.
