Remote Senior Backend/Data Engineer - Music

Description:

• Join Bear Claw team as a senior backend/data engineer to work on Spotify for Artists, a web application offering marketing and analytics tools to artists and label teams.
• Collaborate with the team to design, develop, and deploy Java services for music analytics and insights in Spotify for Artists, enhancing user experience and providing data-driven insights.
• Develop services for real-time metrics, sophisticated authorization logic, and orchestration of music stats and insights across teams and Spotify/S4A surfaces.
• Improve batch data pipelines using frameworks like Scio, Dataflow, and Flink to transform listener behavior data for streamlined querying and analysis.
• Work in multi-functional agile teams, experiment, iterate, and deliver new product objectives while mentoring less experienced engineers.
• Grow professionally in an environment supporting individual growth and ambitious tasks, encouraging acquisition of new skills in backend and data engineering.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in backend and data engineering with strong system design skills.
• Proficiency in building distributed services with RESTful and/or gRPC endpoints, demonstrating a track record of developing robust and scalable systems.
• Hands-on experience with data in columnar storage formats, wide-column stores like BigTable or Cassandra, and building batch workflow data pipelines using Spark or Beam.
• Deep knowledge in data modeling, data access, and storage techniques to craft efficient solutions.
• Experience deploying and operating services in cloud environments like GCP or AWS, utilizing modern CI/CD tools and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
• Passion for agile software processes, data-driven development, reliability, and responsible experimentation to ensure high-quality solutions delivery.

Benefits:

• Base salary range of $156,275 - $223,250 plus equity.
