Description:

  • ClickHouse is seeking a Senior Cloud Software Engineer to design, develop, deploy, and secure the ClickHouse Cloud database platform for airgapped environments.
  • The role involves architecting secure, high-performance, and scalable solutions for classified and highly regulated systems.
  • Responsibilities include working closely with Security, Dataplane, ClickHouse Core, and infrastructure teams to ensure compliance with various security frameworks.
  • The engineer will design and develop a highly available, scalable, and secure ClickHouse Cloud tailored for airgapped systems.
  • The position requires designing and deploying ClickHouse Cloud on Kubernetes and containerized environments, ensuring high availability, replication, and backup.
  • The engineer will develop and maintain Helm Charts, operators, and Kubernetes manifests for database management.
  • Implementing repeatable automation for building, scaling, and troubleshooting infrastructure components for disconnected operations is essential.
  • The role includes optimizing ClickHouse Cloud database performance and storage architecture for various deployment types.
  • Secure authentication, encryption, and access control mechanisms must be integrated.
  • The engineer will develop and maintain technical documentation for system architecture, security, and compliance audits.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving database performance, security, and operational issues is a key responsibility.
  • Automating deployments and lifecycle management using Terraform, Ansible, or CI/CD pipelines is required.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have 6+ years of relevant software development experience in building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems.
  • Experience with ClickHouse or relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra) databases is required.
  • Proficiency with Kubernetes tools such as Helm, Kustomize, operators, Istio, and service mesh is necessary.
  • A strong understanding of airgapped architectures and data isolation is essential.
  • Experience with containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift) in government environments is required.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or on-prem equivalents) is necessary.
  • Proficiency in programming/scripting languages (Python or Go) for automation and integration is required.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to U.S. federal contract requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team and across engineering teams are essential.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and solid production debugging skills are necessary.
  • Candidates should be passionate about efficiency, availability, scalability, and data governance.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and a strong sense of responsibility, ownership, and accountability are required.
