Description:
Blockworks is a financial media brand focused on delivering breaking news and premium insights about digital assets to millions of investors.
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be the first data engineer responsible for leading the creation and execution of data models and strategies that feed Blockworks' products.
You will own data sourcing pipelines, architecting data warehousing, ingestion, and sourcing strategies while working with multiple SDKs to aggregate data.
You will design and implement ETL solutions, including accessing blockchain nodes, sourcing data from third parties, and modeling internal schemas across PostgreSQL databases.
You will provide technical leadership and guidance to the team in implementing established architectures and designs.
You will drive operational efficiency by improving data workflows and automating routine tasks.
You will collaborate with other teams across Blockworks, including Research, Product, and Engineering, to lead initiatives and advance collaborations.
Comfortability with experimentation and being uncomfortable is essential in this fast-paced startup environment.
Requirements:
You must have significant knowledge of the crypto industry, considering yourself crypto native, with at least 4 years of hands-on experience in data modeling, schema design, data operations, and data warehousing.
You should have experience building backend systems at scale with a focus on data processing and ingestion.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Go, Rust, and/or Typescript is required, along with strong expertise in SQL (ideally Parquet, Postgres, and Clickhouse).
You should have deep experience creating data warehouses at scale, handling over 100M rows per day.
Familiarity with DevOps tools and cloud solutions like Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, or GCP is necessary.
Experience in crypto, web3, startup, or incubator environments is preferred, as well as a background in designing, building, and managing microservices.
Significant experience in security, privacy, and scalability is a plus.
