Description:
Acorns is seeking a highly-motivated, detail-oriented Senior Data Engineer to join their Data Engineering team, which serves as the central data platform for the company.
The team is responsible for delivering a scalable and secure data platform that serves millions of customers by leveraging tools like Databricks and Flink.
The role involves processing Petabytes of app interactions and complex financial data daily.
Responsibilities include interfacing with various business units, understanding data landscape and processes, fixing or enhancing production data pipelines, and optimizing performance of data processes.
The engineer will develop new data pipelines, design and develop data pipelines for business metrics, and propose new solutions for efficiency and scalability.
The position is full-time, remote-first, with optional office space in Irvine, CA.
Requirements:
Candidates should have 8 to 10 years of experience with a BS/BA; or 5 years with an advanced degree; or equivalent work experience.
A minimum of 5+ years of experience in Java/Scala/Python is required.
Candidates must have 8+ years of software engineering experience in an internet-facing solution.
Strong object-oriented fundamentals and system design fundamentals are necessary.
Advanced understanding of SQL and database/data warehouse design concepts is required.
Candidates should understand advanced algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.
Experience in building scalable systems or processes designed to handle billions of records is essential.
Familiarity with Test Driven Development, AWS, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka or Kinesis, Spark or Databricks, Airflow or Luigi, and Data Quality tools is a plus but not required.
