Remote Senior Data Scientist, Computational Biology

Description:

• The Senior Data Scientist will be part of the computational biology core in the Translational Data Sciences group, collaborating with scientists, data scientists, and engineers.
• Responsibilities include integrating ‘omics data from various sources into the data platform, ensuring data quality through bioinformatics pipelines, and performing analyses to support drug discovery programs.
• The role involves publication-quality data visualization and effective communication across disciplines.
• The candidate will contribute to identifying novel targets and clinical biomarkers and will be an active team member providing updates and feedback.

Requirements:

• A BS degree with 4 years of experience, or a MS or PhD with at least 1 year of experience in bioinformatics, computational sciences, or related fields is required.
• Experience in modeling multi-omic data using statistical/machine learning methods and biological network analyses is essential.
• Candidates must have experience with high-dimensional omics data and the ability to address challenges related to noise and variance.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are necessary, including proficiency in Rmarkdown and/or Jupyter Notebooks.
• Experience in R and/or Python, including familiarity with code and data versioning, is required.
• Knowledge of OMICs data processing workflows and experience working in cloud environments like AWS is preferred.
• Coursework in at least two biological sciences is required, with a preference for knowledge in cardiovascular disease and its co-morbidities.
• Familiarity with public data sources and experience with network biology approaches are a plus.
