Remote Senior Software Engineer

• Marqeta is seeking talented Senior Software Engineers to join their Engineering team.
• The role can be performed remotely within the United States.

• The team has openings in Transaction Management & Message Delivery, 3DS, and Transaction Accuracy.
• Responsibilities include defining and delivering milestones for projects, mentoring less-experienced team members, writing clear and bug-free code, identifying gaps, proposing plans, challenging the status quo, leading design for components/features, and participating in on-call coverage.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience as a backend engineer with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years of experience with an advanced degree. In lieu of a degree, 8+ years of relevant experience may suffice.
• Experience building scalable software platforms, developing in Java, working with SQL, Microservices, and distributed systems.
• Ability to decompose business problems into solutions, build correct, maintainable software components, and make technical trade-offs.
• Experience troubleshooting production issues, presenting clear messages, and working with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Nice to have: experience with payments or the FinTech space, AWS technologies, software delivery pipelines, CI/CD systems, Kubernetes and/or Docker, unit testing, and contributions to technical blogs or open source projects.
