Description:
The Senior Software Engineer will independently identify and deliver software solutions on the Banking and Money Movement Team through specific product focus or multi-component system milestones.
Responsibilities include owning and delivering projects to meet quarterly goals, collaborating with the team and cross-functional partners, and solving ambiguous, open-ended problems.
The Banking and Money Movement engineering team optimizes financial services like account creation, transaction processing, payment systems, banking integrations, reporting, and reconciliation.
The role allows for remote work within Vancouver, BC, or Toronto, ON, Canada.
The position involves defining and delivering project milestones, keeping customer needs in mind, mentoring less-experienced team members, writing clear and bug-free code, proposing solutions for identified gaps, challenging the status quo, and leading design for system components/features.
The Senior Software Engineer will have significant ownership of a system component/feature, design software components in well-scoped scenarios, and participate in on-call coverage.
Requirements:
5+ years of backend engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 3 years of experience with an advanced degree; alternatively, 8+ years of relevant experience without a degree.
Proficiency in Java, Web Services, Microservices, SQL, distributed systems, and working at a SaaS-based product company.
Ability to decompose business problems into solutions with multiple interacting components, build maintainable software components, focus on quality and meeting deadlines, and communicate effectively with various audiences.
Strong grasp of libraries, platforms, and systems, and the capability to share relevant information and work with cross-functional stakeholders to clarify ambiguity.

Competitive base salary range of CAD 103,000 - 137,000, calibrated according to working location.
