Description:
Human Interest is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend for their RecordKeeper team, responsible for bookkeeping of retirement plans.
The team standardizes all financial transactions for retirement plans, including contributions, roll-overs, distributions, and loans.
The role involves building a horizontally scalable financial engine to service 401(k) plans efficiently and reliably.
The position requires collaboration with domain experts to design, test, and own systems for customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities include developing and maintaining critical retirement workflows, writing clean code, and ensuring system performance and reliability.
The role involves participating in the full development life cycle, from analysis to production release.
Requirements:
Minimum 7 years of experience in backend software development.
Proficiency in building large-scale backend systems and managing elastic workloads using queue/worker and streaming architectures.
Experience with scaling database platforms (Nosql, SQL) and migrating to modern scalable technologies.
Strong understanding of accounting and 401k domains.
Ability to think creatively, share knowledge, and write understandable, testable code.
Proactive and empathetic mindset with a commitment to continuous learning.
Formal training in a computer science-related discipline (Bachelors or Masters preferred).
