Remote Senior Software Engineer

Description:

• KoBold is seeking Senior Software Engineers to enhance mineral exploration through AI models and novel sensors.
• The role involves deep engagement with exploration geologists and data scientists to tailor technology development for exploration projects.
• Responsibilities include building data pipelines and tools for extracting insights from exploration data, often leading a small team of software engineers.
• The position requires end-to-end ownership of projects, from design to implementation and testing, while maintaining engagement with exploration teams.
• Candidates will be expected to respond to design and code feedback and provide constructive feedback to teammates.
• The role also includes operational management of the team’s services and assisting scientific colleagues with tooling.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 4+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in building production cloud data systems.
• Proficiency in Python is required.
• The ability to write production-quality code that is correct, readable, well-tested, scalable, and extensible is essential.
• Candidates should be skilled in large-scale system design and have a track record of taking ownership from problem definition to project delivery.
• Bonus qualifications include experience with modern frontend frameworks like React, geospatial data, and familiarity with containerization platforms such as Docker, AWS ECS, or Kubernetes.
• An ideal candidate will have formal education or job exposure to natural sciences and a strong intellectual curiosity about mineral exploration.
• Strong communication skills are necessary to explain technical problems and collaborate with non-software domain experts.

Benefits:

• The position offers a competitive US base salary range of $175,000 - $210,000.
• This is a full-time exempt position with the flexibility of remote work, allowing candidates to be located anywhere in the United States or Canada.
• All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States or Canada.
