Description:

Mysten Labs is focused on creating foundational infrastructure to accelerate the adoption of decentralized protocols based on blockchain technologies.
The Senior Software Engineer will design and implement Mysten’s safe, secure, and performant decentralized platform, Sui.
The role requires expertise in designing systems involving asynchronous networking, safe distributed systems (byzantine and crash-tolerant), distributed storage, and high-performance execution runtimes for VMs.
The engineer will collaborate closely with programming language technology experts to ensure execution engines run correctly and efficiently, as well as with product engineers to support user transactions and operations.
The position is remote-first, allowing for hiring across the world, and offers tremendous growth potential as the company aims to bring the next billion users to web3.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in hands-on software engineering, including methodologies to ensure the correctness and performance of implemented components.
A substantial role in the design and implementation of a large distributed system is required.
Experience with the design and evaluation of secure systems, including secure programming, appropriate use of cryptography, and prevention of DoS attacks is necessary.
Fluency in writing design documentation and participating in technical discussions and reviews, both synchronously and asynchronously, is essential.
Proficiency in a systems language such as Rust or C++ is required.
Candidates should have expertise in one or more areas such as networking, distributed systems, storage, databases, operating systems, and runtimes, enabling them to read research papers and design systems based on them.
A layperson's interest in open, decentralized, permissionless technologies, and the intersection of contemporary technology, economics, finance, and governance is preferred.
Engineers with no prior experience in blockchain technologies but who fulfill some of the above requirements are especially encouraged to apply.
