Description:
The SQL Server Database Administrator is a key member of the IT Operations Team, focusing on the technical database, configuration, and support of disease surveillance and immunization registry solutions.
This role involves listening to internal clients’ feedback and implementing strategies to enhance database stability and reliability.
Responsibilities include working with clients to understand their requests, monitoring the health of data/database environments, and creating system documentation for database procedures.
The administrator will evaluate technical solutions for scope adherence and communicate with team leadership regarding details and next steps.
Non-functional requirements such as security, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, and reliability must be considered when developing database solutions.
Timely internal client feedback is essential to ensure that development meets client needs.
Requirements:
A bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, IT, software engineering, or equivalent work experience is required.
Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years' experience with large scale software database projects and processes.
Intermediate level experience in SQL Server stored procedures, SQL, data replication, and SSIS is necessary.
Experience with dynamic SQL, loop processing, and cross-server database considerations at an intermediate level is required.
Candidates should have intermediate level experience with SQL performance tuning and data analysis, including root cause identification.
Knowledge of computer systems, operating systems, system security, database management, and web platforms is essential.
Experience with database migrations, particularly from client to private cloud for MSSQL Server and POSTgres, is required.
Working experience with AWS and/or Azure SQL databases running on EC2 and RDS is necessary.
Candidates must provide accurate and timely work estimates and possess strong time management and teamwork skills.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical information in layman's terms are required.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multi-task are essential for this role.
Candidates must be available for on-call duties as needed and note that sponsorship is not available for this position.
