Description:

  • Skylight is a digital consultancy focused on improving public services for government agencies through design and technology.
  • The Senior/Staff Software Engineer will work with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families (ACF) to enhance the grant recipient experience.
  • The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining software systems that improve government services for users and partners.
  • Responsibilities include engineering a software product as part of a cross-functional team, advocating for lean-agile engineering principles, selecting appropriate tools and technologies, and analyzing systems for improvement opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must be able to write clean, reusable code and produce high-quality code through automated testing.
  • Familiarity with building secure, compliant software and defending against common vulnerabilities is required.
  • Understanding of software systems and their integration, with a focus on performance, reliability, and availability, is essential.
  • Candidates should be able to take on data engineering responsibilities and prioritize user-centered design in their work.
  • Effective communication skills for a professional services environment are necessary.
  • A passion for improving public outcomes through government services is important.
  • Candidates must be able to travel for work occasionally.
  • U.S. citizenship may be required for some federal contracts, and candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
