Description:

  • Skylight is a digital consultancy focused on improving public services for government agencies through design and technology.
  • The Senior/Staff Software Engineer will design, implement, and maintain software systems aimed at enhancing government services.
  • This role involves working on the Department of Homeland Security's customer experience initiatives, focusing on human-centered and equity-driven service delivery.
  • Responsibilities include engineering software products as part of a cross-functional team, advocating for lean-agile engineering principles, and selecting appropriate tools and technologies.
  • The engineer will analyze systems to identify areas for improvement and communicate solutions effectively.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must be able to write clean, reusable code and produce high-quality code through automated testing.
  • A foundational understanding of data engineering and the ability to build secure, compliant software is required.
  • Proficiency in frontend development using modern frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue.js) is essential, with a focus on accessibility standards.
  • Candidates should prioritize user-centered design and be able to communicate effectively within a professional services environment.
  • A passion for improving public outcomes through government services and a mindset that aligns with Skylight's core values are necessary.
  • Ability to travel for work occasionally is required.
  • Candidates must be able to obtain and hold a federal public trust (tier 2) and must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
