Description:
Ashby is hiring a Software Developer In Test (SDET) to enhance their QA infrastructure and support engineers in delivering high-quality products.
The role is remote and intended for candidates located in North America.
The SDET will focus on building systems that provide fast and reliable feedback, ensuring quality is integrated into the development process rather than treated as an afterthought.
Responsibilities include writing and maintaining end-to-end tests, contributing to test infrastructure, and collaborating with engineers to create efficient feedback loops.
The position is technical and hands-on, requiring the ability to design user-friendly systems and debug existing ones.
The SDET will be the first dedicated automation hire and will report directly to the QA lead, working closely with the entire team to promote quality ownership.
The role involves writing code daily, building test frameworks, and improving test setups to enhance speed and reliability.
The SDET will also need to understand user needs and edge cases to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
The company values a culture of collaboration and encourages all team members to take ownership of quality.
Requirements:
Candidates must have experience writing and maintaining test automation frameworks from scratch.
A strong understanding of what constitutes a helpful test, as well as the ability to identify flaky tests, is essential.
Applicants should possess a user-centric mindset, capable of spotting edge cases and translating them into meaningful test coverage.
Experience in developing test infrastructure that alleviates friction for engineers is required.
Candidates should be excited about creating less brittle tests and view test automation as a tool for enabling quality rather than a checklist.
The ability to independently scope, build, test, and maintain tools and systems is necessary.
Familiarity with TypeScript and Playwright is preferred, as these are part of the technology stack.
Benefits:
The position offers a competitive salary and equity options.
Employees benefit from a 10-year exercise window for stock options, allowing flexibility in purchasing options.
Ashby provides twelve weeks of fully paid family leave for employees in the US, with plans to extend this benefit to other countries in the future.
A generous budget for equipment, software, and office furniture is available to ensure employees are happy and productive.
An education budget of $100 per month is provided, with additional funding for conferences available upon manager approval.
For US-based employees, top-notch health insurance is offered, covering all premiums for employees and their dependents.
