Description:

Mapbox is the leading real-time location platform for location-aware businesses, providing tools for navigation of people, packages, and vehicles.
The Navigation team develops and operates web services for strategic navigation initiatives in consumer, automotive, and logistics sectors.
As a Staff Backend Engineer on the Navigation API team, you will work on a routing engine for Electric Vehicles (EV) primarily written in Rust, along with supporting services for data consumption and storage.
You will participate in projects such as improving EV trip planning, enhancing the EV battery consumption model, scaling performance, and integrating live data for better routing.
Responsibilities include designing and implementing scalable services, running experiments to evaluate product quality, participating in feature implementation, and collaborating with product owners and management.

Requirements:

A minimum of 5 years of strong proficiency in engineering web services using Rust or C++.
Experience in building highly-available API services in container-based environments like Docker, ECS, Fargate, or Kubernetes on AWS.
Knowledge of operating systems and distributed systems, including fault-tolerance and service discovery, along with system architecture experience.
Ability to analyze data and improve services based on performance profiling.
Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
Strong communication skills in English, with a passion for learning and knowledge sharing.
A focus on quality programming practices, including the implementation of automated tests.
