Remote Software Engineer - Backend, Kotlin (Principal/Senior)

Description:

• Gardens Interactive is seeking a Software Engineer focused on backend development for multiplayer experiences.
• The position is remote, available to candidates in the United States and Canada, working within EST - PST time zones.
• The role involves collaborating with designers and gameplay engineers to build and scale systems that enhance social and multiplayer experiences.
• Responsibilities include translating social gameplay experiences into backend solutions, partnering with Unreal engineers for end-to-end implementations, ensuring scalability across multi-region and multi-platform deployments, and integrating or building solutions for publishing needs.
• The ideal candidate should thrive in a design-centric environment, tackle ambiguous problems, and be eager to learn.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have experience in distributed microservices development using Kotlin or Java.
• Proficiency in AWS, containerization, Git, and CI/CD is required.
• Experience in a AAA or AA game studio is essential.
• The ability to navigate ambiguity and provide optimal solutions for complex problems is necessary.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work independently with stakeholders are required.
• Bonus points for experience with Unreal 4 or 5, live services and multiplayer games, programming in C++, and familiarity with IaC deployment approaches.
