Remote Software Engineer - Backend - Node.js API - Business Platform

Description:

• Ailevate is seeking a Back-End Engineer for their newly formed Business Platform team.
• The role involves designing and implementing production-grade APIs, services, and infrastructure for managing customer environments, licensing, and account operations.
• The engineer will contribute to the evolution of backend architecture, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and clean code.
• Responsibilities include designing REST and OpenAPI-compliant services using Node.js, building reusable backend components, and collaborating with front-end engineers and product leaders.
• The engineer will drive technical decisions around data modeling and service architecture, write comprehensive technical documentation, and build tooling for integrating with 3rd-party data providers through Azure Data Factory.
• Technologies used include Node.js, TypeScript, REST APIs, OpenAPI specifications, Elasticsearch, and modern backend tooling.
• This is a hands-on, high-impact role suitable for engineers who thrive in collaborative, fast-paced environments.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 5+ years of experience building back-end systems in Node.js and TypeScript.
• A strong understanding of RESTful APIs and service-oriented architecture is required.
• Real-world experience with relational and in-memory datastores is necessary.
• Proven ability to debug distributed systems and optimize backend performance is essential.
• Candidates should be comfortable with CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native deployment patterns.
• A high ownership mindset is required, with the ability to take initiative, deliver independently, and drive clarity across teams.
• Nice-to-have skills include experience building internal tooling, familiarity with observability stacks, exposure to authentication/authorization layers, and a background in regulated industries.
