  • The role involves writing code to process data efficiently and supporting the storage, processing, and analysis of terabytes of critical data.
  • The Data Engineer will provide subject matter expertise, contribute to data and architecture review meetings, and support the implementation of data integration requirements.
  • The position requires working with cross-functional project teams to gather business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • The Data Engineer will assist government partners in developing data engineering applications and pipelines for advanced analytics, AI/ML, and experimentation.
  • The role includes designing, developing, testing, automating, and deploying data engineering solutions in cloud platforms like AWS.
  • Participation in software design and code reviews, as well as developing automated testing, monitoring, and CI/CD for production systems, is expected.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering is required.
  • Candidates must have experience with Agile Software Development, Test Driven Development, CI/CD, and Source Code Management.
  • Experience in building ETL pipelines to ingest, process, and store data is necessary.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala across multiple use cases is required.
  • Candidates should have experience with data cleaning and data modeling while protecting sensitive data.
  • Proficiency in building data integrations using both API and file-based protocols is essential.
  • Candidates must be proficient with relational databases and advanced SQL queries.
  • Experience with data observability tools to maintain data infrastructure and quality is required.
  • Candidates should be able to refine high-level goals into high-impact, low-effort tasks based on human-centered design practices.
  • A desire to learn new technologies and languages is important.
  • Candidates must be comfortable troubleshooting complex data and systems interaction problems.
  • Strong organizational skills and critical reasoning abilities are necessary.
  • Candidates should work well independently, as part of a team, and with stakeholders.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills to convey technical concepts clearly are required.
