Description:
Parity is seeking a Software Engineer (Integrations) to join their remote team, focusing on building and maintaining tooling and applications primarily in TypeScript and Rust for Substrate-based blockchains like Polkadot.
The role involves designing, building, and maintaining TypeScript-based tools and libraries to assist internal and external teams in building, debugging, instrumenting, and managing substrate-based blockchains.
The engineer will gradually take ownership of different areas of the codebases and projects, spending approximately 80% of their time on TypeScript projects and 20% on Rust projects, depending on their skills and preferences.
The position is fully remote, working within a team of around 10 engineers primarily located in Europe.
The ideal candidate should be highly motivated, autonomous, and comfortable with the dynamic nature of the Web3 space.
Requirements:
Candidates must be able to work autonomously and effectively in a distributed team, demonstrating excellent communication skills to convey ideas clearly and share progress updates.
A strong interest in blockchain technology, particularly Substrate and Polkadot, is essential, along with an awareness of the ecosystem's challenges and potential solutions.
Prior experience or interest in working with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and deploying or running smart contracts is required.
Demonstrable experience in TypeScript, especially in open-source projects, is necessary, with a desire to grow and improve in this area.
An interest in the Rust programming language and its community is important, as Rust is extensively used in the projects.
A good understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, HTTP, and WebSockets, along with experience in building HTTP-based APIs and clients, is required.
Ideally, candidates should reside within 2 hours of UTC+0, although exceptional candidates outside this timezone may be considered.
