Remote Staff Design Engineer

Description:

• The Staff Design Engineer position at Ephemera focuses on building and maintaining XMTP, an E2EE messaging protocol.
• Responsibilities include influencing the design and feature set of XMTP to ensure it meets the standards of a modern messaging protocol.
• The role involves advising and guiding developers working on client applications to provide a secure and engaging user experience.
• Engaging in open-source communities to represent Ephemera effectively and collaborating with engineers, developers, and stakeholders to ensure confident and efficient project delivery.
• Evaluating and recommending trade-offs in development plans and system design with considerations for security, scalability, efficiency, and cost.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 10+ years of professional experience as a software engineer.
• Advanced proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Swift, Kotlin, React Native, or JS, with a preference for a well-rounded expertise profile.
• Extensive design experience, particularly in mobile and web design, with a keen eye for detail and perfection.
• Animation experience, including knowledge of best practices for scrolling behavior, chat message appearance, and user engagement.
• Strong understanding of design patterns and best practices demonstrated through previous projects.
• Nice-to-have: prior experience in peer-to-peer messaging systems, involvement in open-source projects, interest in Web3 technologies, and familiarity with secure messaging technologies.
