Description:
Human Interest is seeking a Staff Engineer for Backend Engineering focused on RecordKeeper to ensure people in all lines of work have access to retirement benefits.
The company aims to make retirement plans affordable and accessible for small and medium-sized businesses.
The engineering team values continuous improvement, documentation, security, and scalability.
The role involves driving technical direction for over 20 engineers, providing mentorship, defining architecture, and building systems for servicing 401(k) plans.
The Recordkeeping team is responsible for bookkeeping of retirement plans, including all financial activities.
Responsibilities include defining architectures, delivering prototypes, coaching engineers, improving systems, and advocating for scalable designs.
The position requires a minimum of 10 years of experience in backend software design, cloud technologies, mentoring, and large-scale system delivery.
Requirements:
Minimum 10 years of professional experience in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale backend software products.
Expertise in designing and building modular distributed applications for a growing customer base.
Solid understanding of auto-scaling cloud technologies, preferably AWS.
Ability to influence cross-team standards and practices, articulate business benefits, and mentor other engineers.
Experience in managing elastic workloads, migrating to scalable technologies, and understanding accounting and 401k domains.
Strong desire to learn, exchange feedback, and improve technical designs.
