Description:
Latitude AI is an automated driving technology company developing a hands-free, eyes-off driver assist system for next-generation Ford vehicles at scale.
The Functional Safety team ensures the product meets safety standards and creates novel safety approaches for L3 autonomy.
The role involves leading functional safety activities across the software organization to design safety into systems and onboard autonomy and platform software.
Responsibilities include translating ISO-26262 part 6 requirements into actions for software development, building functional safety software for safety-critical applications, and leading software safety architecture development.
The engineer will create, coordinate, and track requirements for embedded high-performance software development activities and interface with various teams to drive traceability between system-level requirements and software safety specifications.
The position requires creating automated tests to verify software functionality and leading safety activities such as qualification of software components.
The engineer will contribute to the development of the complete system safety case and work with project management to implement functional safety processes.
Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field with 7+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 5+ years, or a PhD with 2+ years of experience is required.
A strong record in system safety related to software design and development is necessary.
Candidates must possess strong engineering communication skills to convey complex issues to a diverse team.
Experience with complex software architecture and development in C/C++ is required.
Familiarity with safety-related operating systems (QNX, Autosar) and runtime software environments, as well as Linux, is essential.
Proven experience in developing embedded or robotics software on resource-constrained platforms is needed.
The ability to design software components and systems and communicate designs effectively is required.
Practical experience with systems engineering methods applied to complex software systems, including systematic analysis techniques, is necessary.
Knowledge of automotive functional safety standards (ISO-26262 or similar) and experience in safety-critical software development processes is required.
Strong systems engineering fundamentals and previous experience delivering products following the safety lifecycle are essential.
